Killington Snow Report Friday March 30 * Flat and fast with a few moguls thrown in*

Lower SS is waiting for you tomorrow

Brilliant Bluebird skies, light wind and 32* @ 12:30

Such a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Superstar and Skyelark>Bitter were groomed up very nicely. Lower SS was kind of deep granular in the middle, but the sides skied well.  Basically everything skied mid-winter flat and fast. Towards 2:00 though things started to soften. Especially Lower Bitter

There was definitely a quite a few people around today too.  I wouldn’t go as far as to say a lift line, but after every run there were a few people in front of you waiting to load. I also noticed quite a few “paper hangers” or people who purchased a lift ticket

It’s nice when SS skis flat and fast TTB the very end of March. I mean, I enjoy skiing moguls too, but late season flat and fast is certainly fun. Even better is when you can ski the flat and fast groomers and head into some bumps in the same run. Which is exactly what was happening down the middle of Lower Bitter late in the day. Some mogul skiing brethren got a line skied in this afternoon. It was actually getting longer and more defined each run. It was a blast skiing it with them and everyone was enjoying themselves and skiing around.

Sorry, but my camera batteries died today (as well as my blackberry) so I was only able to snap a few photos.

I just wanted to post this image of the beautiful view from the shop this morning.  A nice, white capped Killington.  It is currently 20 degrees… sure feels like winter to me!

To make our morning even better, we just heard Killington will be open next week, starting Monday, the 2nd, from 10-5.  (We’ll let you know about Easter Weekend hours as soon as we hear more information).  We’re pretty stoked to have another week of Spring skiing and riding!

Superstar certainly is in tact and isn't going anywhere in the near future

Overcast, blustery, a few flakes in the air. a dusting of snow say above ~3000′ and 36* at 12:30

Another graybird day today. At first I was kind of bumming as Killington groomed last evening then it rained on it. Of course than it turned to snow before ending and froze making for a frozen granular surface. How fitting right? This seems to have been the pattern all winter, why stop now?

The saving grace was that 1) it didn’t freeze hard and 2) today was the busiest day on the hill this week. Skier traffic really helped break down a lot of the frozenness and made it more granular. The weird thing was when I got there at 12:30 there was hardly any one one the hill, by 1:00 there were groups of people riding around. Overall, it wasn’t a bad day out there by any circumstances. I managed to get in a few runs and have some fun. The weather looks pretty decent for this weekend Sunny Saturday with a chance of showers on Sunday afternoon. Hopefully we’ll have a repeat mogul session like last weekend. Hope y’all get a chance to get out and ski some more.

Lower SS skied better with skier traffic as the day wore on.

Overcast, steady, yet mild south wind, 39* at 12:30

On overcast days in what seems like late spring it’s sometimes hard to rally to get up there and get some runs in. I’m glad I had the opportunity to as it was a pretty decent  day out there on the Superstar trail pod.  Skye>Bitter skied better than SS at first as there were some death cookies left of lower SS, but as the day wore on and skier traffic smoothed them out it skied much better. Superstar headwall skied better today as the groomers worked their magic and smoothed out yesterdays death cookies. Lower Skyelark still sits ungroomed and lies in wait for a warm day where it will be soft and rippable. I cant wait for that to break loose as it’s all lined up, just waiting for the right spring day for it to open

Skiing in general improved as the day wore of as the groomers turned to soft corn. There isn’t much opened as far as terrain, but what is open is honestly skiing well. The groomers have done a nice job keeping things connected and keeping the snow surface nice.

Killington Snow Report Tuesday March 27 *What a difference a day makes*

My buddy Owen kicking around some loose snow on Skyelark

Sunny, 34*, light wind at 2:30 pm

The groomers were out in full force yesterday afternoon and evening. Superstar was groomed, most likely renovated, and it showed. I didn’t get the chance to get out till later in the day, but the snow was still decent enough. Granular and groomed snow on a firm base. Very typical of Killington March skiing.

All open terrain skied well today. I liked Skyelark>Bittersweet more than Superstar as it was more granular. I’m sure earlier in the day it all skied much better. Superstar headwall had some funky large death cookies on it left from yesterdays grooming it renovation, but I’m sure those will be ironed out by tomorrow. The groomers did a fine job of also farming around snow then grooming it out to make for a nice surface.

There isn’t a lot of terrain open. It’s Skyelark>Bittersweet and Superstar head-to-toe and the connectors, but thet are skiing well. Come on up and sample it!
