Killington Snow Report Thursday March 1 *Pow Day. 8″ down and still hammering*
Freeriding, Killington, Skiing, Snow Report, Snowboarding, UncategorizedLight to moderate snow, 6″ down @ 9:30, 8″ by 12:45. 24*, light winds at mid-mountain, gustier at K peak
Well folks, today was the day that everyone waited for all season here in K town. Smooth pow skiing throughout in the morning and in typical east coast fashion, trails started to bump up more with skier traffic as the day wore on.
As I was walking to the Superstar quad, I met up with our own Tony Cuppone. He said he was there for opening bell and got two runs before we just met up. Tony and I skied every run today. Started with some smooth pow skiing on trails, then moved into some fresh, completely untracked woods skiing.
First run was down Skyehawk. I was a little concerned as I know that there was a huge ice floe across the center and the skiers right of it. No problems today as the new snow bonded well to it. First run was like a dream. Knee deep the hole way down right of center on skiers right.
We then made it over to Vertigo. We skied under the NEQ to the crossover then Vertigo. Man, that was sweet. Then we cut left to lower vertigo. I was in my glory. 6″ of dense, but not wet snow and absolutely perfect lines that no one skied yet. Perfect!. That was so good that we did Vertigo from the top next run.
After that we headed over to the South Ridge area and skied Pipe Dream. Some super smooth and deep skiing there. Up the SPE than time to hhead into the woods. Today was a day for the woods. Everything gladed leading to the Northbrook area skied well. Really, really well. So well that although we talked about going to to K Peak we couldn’t drag ourselves away from it. Besides, we were hearing reports that the K1 and CQ4 were running slower due to winds. That was alright by us as we had found a bit of nirvana. We contuined doing woods runs around Needles and Cruise Control finding untracked deep snow until noon when I had to bail. Hope everyone who skied here today enjoyed themselves.
Oh yeah, it’s still snowing too. Some of the heaviest snows I have seen today too. Yippie!!

Jonathan Celauro started skiing when he was four and still hasn't quite figured it out yet. After college, he moved to Killington and now 16 yrs later, each comprised of 100+ day ski seasons, he's still trying to grasp the whole skiing concept. At this point he imagines his best option is to just go with the flow. "I still find myself dreaming of big mountain lines and deep powder snow." J.C. Shop Our Online Store
