Happy Thanksgiving! Today was in the low 30’s and overcast.

Mother Nature really smiled on Killington yesterday with a foot of new snow. The only negative was the overcast skies. The snow was a little heavy but last nights cold weather dried the snow out perfectly. If this was the middle of February we would have been talking about how spectacular the snow surface was and remember it is only November. The only thing that would have made it any better (beside the sun) was if more of the mountain was open but remember beggars can’t be choosers.

Today was finally a cold one and there were a lot of guns blazing all over the place which is what I focused the photos on, rather than pictures of people skiing on Rime which are getting a little boring.  So far I have skied different skis each day I have gone out and today was no different.  My weapon of choice today was the Nordica Steadfast I Core which was a perfect ski for today’s conditions.  Rime had piles of sugary snow all over the place ranging from 5-7 inches deep and the Steadfast I core made short work of them plowing through them with little or no effort on my part.  We were spared snow on the goggles since there were no guns going on Rime but the coverage is still great, I was on a brand new demo ski which still looks like new.  I would anticipate top to bottom skiing very soon, the weather looks good for snow making and maybe mother nature will give us some natural stuff as well.

My first day on the hill

Skiing 1 Comment

What a fun ski day with comfortable temps and sunshine.  Most of the run’s were groomed and softened up as the morning progressed.  The natural snow trails are getting a little thin but were skiable.  The snowmaking trails are well covered and great to get your ski legs in shape.  The K1 Gondola is uploading and downloading with a short walk back to the peak on the early season walkway to finish your ski day.    The North Ridge triple chair is operating from 9am-4pm. Advanced terrain only.  There is a terrain park on Reason with a few features.  No beginner terrain at this time.  Everyone here is super excited for the winter season. Swing by the store for all your early season needs. We will keep you updated with any new information we may receive. If you have a Facebook account, “like us” for all the info you need to know.
