Killington Snow Report Sunday December 2

Killington, Skiing, Snow Report No Comments

Today was a day that you just had to head out to the slopes (even I ventured out to ski with friends).   The Killington snowmakers worked very hard all week allowing more terrain and lifts to open spreading out the skiers/riders.  Also, mother nature gave us a couple inches a day totalling 6 inches this past week.  This weekend Snowshed, Highline, Lower East Fall and Superstar opened up.   I started my day over on the Snowdon quad for 4-5 runs top to bottom, then we had to check out Lower East Fall to the Canyon Quad making its debut.  A couple runs in the North Ridge area as well.  The snow conditions were very carvable.  Being that I ski mid-week I had to be more attentive to those around me but that didn’t stop me for making turns today.  Lorraine

In the winter we ski daily and we are constantly testing new gear, sampling the conditions, and sniffing out powder stashes. Feel free to ask us any questions that you may have, we love to talk about skiing, snowboarding, cycling, hiking, bootcamp and even snowshoeing. www.basinski.com

A couple inches overnight to freshen things up!

What a difference a day makes with a night of grooming, 1-2 inches of new snow and a ton of snowmaking.

The snow conditions were much better today over yesterday.  The only issue today was winter came back with cooler temperatures after we have had a week of spring like temps.  This weeks temperatures look vary favorable for snowmaking so you know what those snowmakers will be doing —   making tons of snow to open up additional trails.  Over the Thanksgiving holiday it was crowded but with 8 lifts turning in 6 separate areas it didn’t seem too bad.

Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday.  Lorraine

Hello Shadow!

What a day!!   Another beautiful morning started out in the low 20′s and warmed up to low 30′s with bright sunny skies.

Killington continued their trail expansion by adding the Superstar Express lift with Upper Skylarke and Lower Bittersweet trails.    The snow conditions  in the North Ridge and Snowdon areas were extremely nice.  The skiing off the Superstar quad was good and great fun but one more day of grooming will help.

Snowmaking has begun at Rams Head and continues on Skye Peak.  With the Thanksgiving holiday upon us shortly Killington is making lots of snow to expand the skiable terrain.  I do have a couple pictures from today if I can figure out how to upload them.  Lorraine

Soft turns on Upper East Fall

Sun,  warm temperatures and awesome snow conditions today.

What a treat today was for all those skiers and snowboarders that had a chance to experience the soft hero conditions.   The upper mountain trails in the North Ridge area were covered side to side.

When you skied to the base you encountered a couple places where the snow was thin so you had to think about what path you were going to take.  At the end of your day you could hike up the Peak Walkway to the K1 Gondola and ride down to the base.

Colder temperatures will be arriving Tuesday afternoon so look for snowmaking to resume as soon as possible.  Lots of happy skiers and riders today  — at least everyone I talked with.

My favorite run of the day was Upper Double Dipper to Upper East Fall to the North Ridge Triple (less traveled than Rime).  Lorraine

Today turned out to be sunny and beautiful in the 30′s after starting out in the Killington cloud over the North Ridge area.  Being an early bird today I got to ski 7-8 runs before there was a sign of crowds on the slopes.  Then it was time to take advantage of skiing to the bottom all made possible by a tremendous effort of snowmaking by Killington.
