March 9, Sunny, 32 degrees -

With each passing sunny day my thoughts drift to the meteorological retribution we are certain to be facing. No good weather event goes unpunished around here. Those of you who only frequent the area in winter are lucky, you might not be washed away in the torrents of June. Anyway, another beautiful day on the flanks of Killington peak. Not quite as beautiful as yesterday though. It remained a bit colder today and the sun's softening rays were insufficiently strong to relieve the firmness on the upper slopes. Or something like that. It was beautiful and the skiing was good, nevertheless. More of the same on tap for the next few days, a little warmer if anything. I, however, will not be here. A posse of Basin Sports insiders, myself included, are poised to descend on an unsuspecting Jay Peak for the next few days. I will do my best to report remotely but past experience at Jay Peak has led me to be skeptical of their claims of Internet access. Up in the north country they don't worry about cell phones and wifi, they just ladle more gravy on their French fries and schralp powder all day long.
