Bluebird day with golden sunshine at Killington and wonderful snow surface.
It’s amazing what a difference the second-day groom makes after a wet precipitation event on Sunday afternoon.
The Bear Mountain trails were fantastic edgeable corduroy for the Opening Bell. Skyelark, Bittersweet, and Cruise were remarkably better than yesterday. Great Northern from the Peak was a novice skier’s delight in the crisp air and Mr. Sunshine working his magic! The North Ridge trails, Mouse Trap at Snowden, were all flat and fast.
Then it was time to christen Superstar in honor of Mikaela Shiffrin’s Olympic run for the Gold today. As I was on Lower Superstar aka “Preston’s Pitch” trying to stay vertical, I couldn’t help think of Mikaela and all the World Cup racers charging down Superstar last November at 3 + times my speed. It was so inspiring I did a repeat and then headed back to get some work done.
It was a fantastic day on the slopes. And tomorrow will be even better.
Be sure to get out and enjoy some turns if you can!
