The Atomic Redster X9 WB is a new addition to the Redster family. Like other X9’s the WB (Wide Body) is slate grey. So it’s the Greyster? At any rate, this ski was an employee favorite at our company demo day this past season. Where the X9 felt fast but almost unstable in the arc of a carve, the Redster X9 WB provides that extra stability and extra edge hold to really lay it over in a turn. Like the rest of the Redster line, the WB is reinforced with Servotec to suck up vibrations at speed and keep the ski quite and stable. At 75 underfoot (versus 65) the WB is just a bit more forgiving. With true race camber underfoot the Atomic Redster X WB is still an extremely powerful ski. It’s just nicer to play with. Coming in 152, 160, 168 and 176 you have a few options to choose from. The WB still has the multi-radius sidecut, full sidewall (hence 0/100/0 camber to rocker), Powder Woodcore, Titanium Powered, Structured Topsheet, and World Cup Base Finish. It still has all of those goodies. The reason we at the shop enjoy it is because it enables you to carve aggressive groomers, but still be able to walk the next day. It’s aggressive but fun and won’t beat you up about it. So shred on, shred hard and give the Atomic Redster X9 WB at try.

Servotec is our radical innovation for racing and high-performance piste skiing. The name comes from ‘Servolenkung’ because that’s what it is – the first power steering for skis! The secret is the Servotec rod on the top of the ski and the elastomer just under the binding.
The rod is under tension, meaning the elastomer connected to it is compressed. The whole ski is therefore in a pre-stressed position – essentially ready to turn.
As the ski bends into a turn, the compression in the elastomer is relaxed. It rebounds out like a spring, pulling the rod with it and actively supporting the flex of the ski. This makes steering lighter and quicker.
Then on fast straights the rod and elastomer dampen out bumps and ruts in the slope and even swallow up negative swings. This keeps your steering firmer and more stable when skiing straight at high speeds.
Runs across the full length of the ski for precise steering, ideal for high-performing race and piste skis.
A titanium layer above and below the core creates supreme shock absorption, strong running stability and a high torsional flex.
Power Woodcore: A sporty, dynamic ash and poplar woodcore that adds a ton of stability and dampens vibrations at speed.
